28 March was an historic day – at least 500,000 people marched through London to show our opposition to the far right. HJJ was well represented, with seven or eight of us joining almost 200 people who travelled together up to London on a joyfully crowded train.
The march brought together more than 80 different organisations: trade unions, political organisations, cultural groups, families and individuals.
All were united with one aim: to show that we reject absolutely the racist messages of the Tommy Robinsons and Nigel Farages of this world, and all cheerleaders for war, hate and division.
The atmosphere was friendly, joyful, lively, noisy and determined as people of all ages and from right across the country came together in what was the biggest multi-cultural march against racism ever seen in London.

Some HJJ members joined the Jewish bloc as part of the huge Pro-Palestine feeder march that started in South Kensington and fed into the main march at Park Lane to walk on to Whitehall.
Others marched with groups such as Women Against the Far Right, Artists’ Union, Cities of Sanctuary, or walked with the main Hastings contingent.
For those of us who were there, it was inspiring and hopeful, reminding us that if we stand together, we can overcome the far right and all it stands for.
